FAQ

  • No, we are not BCBAs (Board Certified Behavior Analysts). This choice reflects our commitment to the social model of disability and neurodiversity-affirming approaches. While the mental model of individual BCBAs may vary, behavior analysts traditionally view disability through a medical model that emphasizes changing client behavior to better suit neurotypical norms. That being said, we understand that BCBAs are often a part of a child’s care team, and we have experience working with BCBAs and other service providers in order to create a cohesive, consistent plan for families.

  • We do not use Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) in our approach. Instead, we address educational and behavioral concerns using evidence-based practices such as: Collaborative & Proactive Solutions, Interoceptive Awareness, and TEACCH. These practices center collaboratively exploring the internal experience of the student, which is a fundamental diversion from ABA that focuses on the functions of outwardly visible behaviors.

  • We work with children and young adults from ages 3-21 with developmental, intellectual and learning disabilities. We have a wide-range of experience, including working with children who are traditionally- or self-diagnosed with Autism (including with PDA profiles), ADHD, ODD, Down Syndrome, and anxiety.

  • Our services are not covered by insurance. We know that this can be a barrier for some families, so we do offer a sliding scale for families. We do not require proof of income, but ask families to consider how much they are able to pay at this time. Payments on the higher end of the scale help us continue to be able to offer services to families at reduced rates. Please contact us for more information.
